Charlie Engle - Supported By Organizations &
Individuals
That Are Doing Something Now!
Through my many years of
racing and traveling, I have been fortunate to have lots of
support. Some of the support has been philosophical, some
of it financial, some of it emotional, and some of it
simply in the form of friendship.
All of have been
critical to my personal success and all have contributed to
my ability to help others.

TERRY McCONELL/PERSONAL
PHILOSOPHER - Terry and I have been friends for
many years and he is a member of the philosophy department
at UNC Greensboro. His specialty is medical ethics. Terry
has a very direct style and has never met a joke he
wouldn’t use. I count on Terry for his extremely liberal
view of the world and he has an uncanny way of putting
things in perspective for me.
MARSHALL ULRICH/PERSONAL HERO - Marshall
and I have known each other for a while. I first became
aware of Marshall long before I met him. In my mind, he is
easily the most accomplished adventure athlete in the
United States and maybe beyond that. Marshall changed my
way of thinking many years ago when he told me “never take
yourself off the course. Always make somebody else do it”.
Essentially he was saying to me “don’t ever quit”. It is an
idea as old as time itself, but coming from Marshall, it
really hit home.

RAY ZAHAB/PERSONAL TORTURER (aka King of
Happyland)- Ray is my trainer and close friend. He is the
one that designs the programs that nearly kill me but not
quite. He is also the most up-beat positive person I have
ever met. It is impossible to be unhappy around Ray even
when I want to be.
